Portia covers the Prince hit ‘How Come You Don’t Call Me?’ at the legendary Live at The Bedford in Balham, London on 23 October 2013.
We wanted to share with you this exclusive peek into the private launch of my very first EP - ‘Locket’, which was held at London’s #1 cocktail bar Archer Street earlier in the summer. The event was special in so many ways. Special because it was sponsored by the amazing Bang & Olufsen, who premiered my debut music video in it’s full digital, HD glory. Special because Tanqueray kept the gin flowing all night long. Special because my good friend and collaborator DJ KosmetiQ kept the crowd dancing to his deep house delicious-ness, & I was joined on stage by more musical genius; Sean Green and Lewis Greenslade, on keys. I also got to officially launch POEM and speak about it’s ethos publicly for the first time - Power Over Emotional Mask. Something you’ll be hearing a lot more of in the future!
2013 has been a whirlwind so far. Working closely with writer/producer OD Hunte and releasing Locket in June, which in turn saw me make my festival debut at London’s Wireless Festival with my band, showcasing the EP to a live audience. I then headlined the legendary Barfly in Camden, and had the opportunity to perform an acoustic set at the über-cool Hackney WickED festival. I was clothed by incredible designers Chichia London and Ines Kitioko. I performed as part of the Krystal Roxx Collective at Brixton Jamm alongside artists like Maegan Cottone, Angie Brown and Scarlette Wilde. I became part of The Orchard family, who handle my worldwide distribution, and of course worked hand in hand with my Artistic Producer Paul Spicer, and his company The List Agency, who I continue to create with.
But this year isn’t over yet! I’m very excited to have been co-writing on some top secret projects, getting back into the studio with some amazing talents, putting the finishing touches onto new music that I’m getting excited to finally share; and now the final stage of the Locket chapter, i’ll be performing live with my band at one of my most favourite music venues here in London - The Bedford in Balham on 23 October. A massive shout out to The London Collective who captured the EP launch so beautifully in this gorgeous film. They also produced this interview with me and my Locket collaborators OD Hunte and Paul Spicer. You can watch it here - http://ow.ly/pOuBC
Hope to see you at The Bedford on 23 October! And thank you for all of your continued support. It means the world. All love.
